| {what my polishes look like before} |
I've had my nail polish thrown in a plastic container hidden in the bathroom for as long as I can remember. It's so unorganized that I tend to forget what shades I own and which bottles I need to throw out. I decided I'm not allowed to buy any new fall shades until I get to cleaning and organizing to avoid buying the same shade I did last year. After doing a google search and watching a few videos, I narrowed it down to five practical ways. The method of organization depends on which one works best for you as far as space and number of polishes.

1.
On a Tray: Many people don't like things being out on display like this, but if you're OK with having things out in the open and you have the space say in your bedroom or closet (if you have a large closet) I highly suggest the tray option. I bought this tray from the thrift store months ago and use it as a perfume and watch display. This method works well if you have a lot of polishes and I think it can really brighten up a room!
Buy a pretty inexpensive tray from a flea market or thrift store and arrange your polish either by brand or color. I tried both and can't decide which one I like better. I think arranging by brand looks very organized, but on the other hand, organizing by color is practical. I also read that you can go a step further and apply a dot of color on the top of the bottle so you can automatically know which color you're picking up.

2.
In a Small Basket or Bowl: This works well if you don't have a very large collection, or only want your favorite polishes out and handy. Again, you can buy an inexpensive
basket small in size in a number of colors and simply set it out on a dresser, desk, shelf or even nightstand. You could even use a glass bowl. This picture is a great example of a glass bowl.
3.
Hidden in a Drawer: I hated the method I had going with the basket. Boxes and baskets just don't work for me because even if I organize them by standing upright, they always fall over and end up looking like the picture above. So if I'm going to put them in a box, it's going to be in a drawer organizer.
You can actually use an underwear organizer for your polishes.

A Shelf. You can use a regular shelf for a large collection or something simple like these shelves from The Container Store.

5.
An In-Drawer Spice Rack: Again, many people like things put away and this drawer spice rack is a genius invention both for spices and nail polish!

this is a great idea so they wont leak all over if you don;t close them all the way. and you can have your nail polish on display too!
